Japanese drawing and animation are the focal points of this double-header exhibition at the Pulitzer Arts Foundation.

Focusing on the expressive power of line that is central to the Japanese pictorial arts, Living Proof: Drawing in 19th Century Japan features nearly eighty works by artists including Hokusai, Kuniyoshi, and Yoshitoshi. Rarely collected or exhibited in the modern era, the work on show explores artistic conception and experimentation. The relationship between drawing and animation is explored in Rough Cut: Independent Japanese Animation. Presenting three short animations created over the past century tracing innovations from early silent film.
