SUMMARY:CCI 2026: Sonic Ecologies - Multimedia Music at High Low
DESCRIPTION:Unheard-of performs multimedia premieres with explosive visuals\, hyper-pop electronics\, and prophetic musical storytelling. This program features Christopher Stark’s Maple\, Annika Socolofsky’s Let the more loving one be me\, a new premiere from David Bird\, and Christian Quiñones’s My Eyes Devour the Internet. \nStark’s Maple captures the intensity and devastation of Yellowstone’s 2016 Maple fire through bending electronic loops and field recordings morphed into dance rhythms\, examining the anxiety in between the forces of nature and technology. Socolofsky’s Let the more loving one be me is a sonic documentary of the histories and stories of queer elders\, capturing their stories while they are still here. Quiñones’s My Eyes Devour the Internet is a maximalist romp through digital excess\, from overpowering virtual vocaloid synths to the overpowering meme-fluenced hyperpop.

SUMMARY:High Noon: Hunting for Treasure in St. Louis History
DESCRIPTION:Researching local history is like doing archaeology: you dig through layers of material to uncover treasure—in this case\, previously undiscovered details about a person or event that bring your story to life. And that’s important because good history is\, fundamentally\, a series of factual but exciting stories that illuminate people’s motives and actions. Without such stories\, history can become dry\, even boring. Digging for those nuggets may sound tedious; you end up reading old newspapers\, letters\, journals\, and numerous meeting minutes. Sometimes\, those searches are fruitless. But there are also “aha” moments that make all this work worthwhile—and it’s some of those moments that O’Connor will talk about.

SUMMARY:Remember Me at UrbArts: Opening Night Reception
DESCRIPTION:“Remember Me” is a community-centered art installation and reporting project that honors the lives of victims of unsolved homicides in St. Louis. \nThe work features six original portraits by local artist Cbabi Bayoc\, inspired by a years-long investigation by St. Louis Public Radio\, APM Reports and The Marshall Project into the more than 1\,000 unsolved homicides in the city over the last decade. \nBayoc’s vivid illustrations depict each person as their families remember them: full of life\, love and possibility. \nNote: If your family has experienced this kind of loss\, we invite you to bring a small photo of your loved one to the gallery. We have set up a collection box and will display photos and notes in a living memorial.

SUMMARY:Day With(out) Art Drop-In Film Screenings

Harm reduction has long been central to the AIDS movement through practices like needle exchange and safe injection sites. This program brings the perspectives to the forefront\, amplifying the voices of drug users as storytellers\, cultural producers\, and essential participants in the global response to HIV.

SUMMARY:Day With(out) Art Virtual Screening
DESCRIPTION:This year’s program\, “Meet Us Where We’re At\,” will be hosted as a virtual screening and talkback. The filmmakers explore the experiences of drug users and harm reduction practices as they intersect with the ongoing HIV crisis. Harm reduction has long been central to the AIDS movement through practices like needle exchange and safe injection sites. This program brings the perspectives to the forefront\, amplifying the voices of drug users as storytellers\, cultural producers\, and essential participants in the global response to HIV. Following the screening\, a conversation with attendees will be moderated by Michelle Dezember\, CAM Director of Learning and Engagement\, and Crystal Ellis\, owner of Crystallized Sexuality\, LLC.
