SUMMARY:Tommy Emmanuel With Special Guest Larry Campbell & Teresa Williams
DESCRIPTION:Presented by National Shows 2 \nThe real-time exuberance Tommy Emmanuel brings to every note of every song he plays is palpable and infectious. His fans are in love with his unbound talent as a guitarist of multitudes\, his ability to play three parts at once\, always with pure heart and real soul. \nIn 2018\, Tommy made Accomplice One\, a series of duets with musicians great and varied. It’s a concept that worked\, as the range of artists reflected Tommy’s expansive love of all kinds of music\, including Rodney Crowell\, Mark Knopfler\, Amanda Shires\, Jason Isbell\, Jerry Douglas\, Jake Shimabukuro and more. \nNow comes the long-awaited sequel\, Accomplice Two. It shares the same exuberance\, diversity\, and sense of adventure as the first album\, with a great range of artists such as Michael McDonald\, Billy Strings\, Sam Bush\, Jerry Douglas\, Sierra Hull\, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band\, Yasmin Williams and more. \nTommy’s new television special Accomplice LIVE! begins airing on PBS in March of 2023. This special features some of Tommy’s best-known songs and duets with his accomplices such as Emmylou Harris\, Rodney Crowell\, Sierra Hull\, Yasmin Williams\, and many others. \nTommy was born in 1955 in Muswellbrook\, New South Wales Australia\, and started playing the guitar at age four. In his twenties\, he was the most sought-after performer and session musician in Sydney. By age 30\, he was burning on electric guitar with several rock bands in stadiums across Europe. Casting off the reliable rock band engine of monstrous sonics blasting\, Tommy went acoustic\, inspired by his hero\, Chet Atkins. \nChet welcomed Tommy into guitarist knighthood by bestowing upon him the coveted title of CGP (Certified Guitar Player)\, an honor awarded only to four other humans ever. Tommy Emmanuel has sold out shows all over the world and received multiple Grammy nominations\, ARIA Awards and IBMA Awards. \nCan’t attend this date? Check out the other available concert date on October 20 here.

SUMMARY:SOLD OUT: Lucinda Williams and Her Band
DESCRIPTION:Lucinda Williams’ music has gotten her through her darkest days. It’s been that way since growing up amid family chaos in the Deep South\, as she recounts in her candid new memoir\, Don’t Tell Anybody the Secrets I Told You. Over the past two years\, it’s been the force driving her recovery from a debilitating stroke she suffered on November 17\, 2020\, at age 67. Her masterful\, multi-Grammy-winning songwriting has never deserted her. To wit\, her stunning\, sixteenth studio album\, Stories from a Rock n Roll Heart\, brims over with some of the best work of her career. And though Williams can no longer play her beloved guitar – a constant companion since age 12 – her distinctive vocals sound better than ever. \nBut post-stroke\, she had to revise her own songwriting process\, since she could no longer play guitar. “My process has always been to come up with some lyrics\, then get the guitar and come up with a melody and some kind of structure\,” Williams relates. “Once I get that\, then I’d go back and edit the lyrics and add more. Pretty much like when you write and revise a story\, except the guitar is added to it. It was very rare that I’d ever write all the lyrics completely without the guitar.” \nThrough all the hardships Williams faced in 2020 – a destructive tornado damaging her new home in Nashville\, being sidelined by the pandemic\, and then the catastrophic stroke – her music kept her going and continues to bring her more laurels. The past year has seen Williams honored by BMI for her songwriting\, her induction into the Austin City Limits Hall of Fame\, and a Grammy Week tribute at the Troubadour\, with her songs performed by a diversity of Americana artists. She duetted with Willie Nelson on Billy Joe Shaver’s “Live Forever\,” which won a Grammy in February for Best Country Performance. \nAs she promises on the powerful last track of Stories from a Rock n Roll Heart–one of the best albums of her career–Lucinda Williams is “never gonna fade away.”

SUMMARY:Artist Talk with Pattie Chalmers
DESCRIPTION:Pattie Chalmers’ Mudmaid Museum is an exploration of folklore and legends that blurs the lines between myth and reality. Chalmers has created her own museum of catfish-beings\, referred to as “Mudmaids\,” believed to exist in the Mississippi River in a distant past. This unique concept of a museum within a gallery plays with the definitions of fact and fiction\, featuring artifacts created by Chalmers. The Mudmaid Museum exhibition reveals an alternate history\, a museum filled with artifacts from when Mudmaid apparitions were encountered in American waterways. In the Mudmaid Museum visitors will see books\, woodcarvings\, photographs\, rag dolls\, diaries\, letters\, whisker oil bottles and much more from the foggy past. \nPattie Chalmers grew up and went to art school in Winnipeg\, Canada. She received her B.F.A. in printmaking from the University of Manitoba in 1994\, and her M.F.A. in ceramics from the University of Minnesota in 2001.  Since graduating\, she has exhibited on five continents\, in six countries and in 34 states. She has had six solo exhibitions in the past eight years\, most recently the exhibitions Every Thing and More at the Craft Alliance in St. Louis and Imperfect Ramblings at Merwin Gallery at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington\, Illinois. \n  \nChalmers has taught at the University of Minnesota\, Ohio University and at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale where she is currently a full professor.
