SUMMARY:Story Collider St. Louis
DESCRIPTION:The Story Collider is back at STLPR. Join us Wednesday\, September 28 for true authentic stories about how science molds our lives\, and how finding your key can unlock so much more. \nBring your favorite folding chair and enjoy creative libations from STL Barkeep with us on the Public Media Commons at 7 p.m. CST! \nStorytellers \nKeith Duncan is picking up the pieces after his habitat in Delaware disintegrated around him. He works with his wife to pull together and build anew in St. Louis to continue his love of plant imaging. \nTaylor Stone was initially discouraged from studying and pursuing a career in science because of preconceived notions of who scientists are. With the support of various teachers\, she finds that she can make space in this habitat without conforming or losing other parts of herself. \nChristienne Hinz builds a restoration habitat in her yard — a process that took twenty years — while learning about safety and survival as a poor\, Black woman academic living in the suburbs\, a habitat that wasn’t built for her. \nAfter deciding to quit her job as a scientist in academia\, Elizabeth Haswell takes a journey to the canyon and learns how to feel fully present in her body and in nature after a life of focusing on the “next rung of the ladder”. \n*Masks are not required for fully vaccinated guests at our outdoor events. At this time\, masks are required to\nenter the STLPR building. \nContact events@stlpublicradio.org with any questions. We look forward to seeing you.
