As It Looks Now: follow Route 66 through St. Louis with Susan Hacker Stang and her toy camera

With Susan Hacker Stang, Professor Emeritus of Photography at Webster University

Wednesday, October 14th, 2020
Online: 5pm – 6pm CST

In 2016, Route 66 celebrated its 90th anniversary. Among all the cities that it ran through from Illinois to California, St. Louis was the largest. The Route 66 alignment through St Louis extended over 18 miles.

Susan followed this route through St. Louis with one of her toy cameras, a Holga Digital, to see what it looks like now. She’ll be showing you what she found.

Susan Hacker Stang is an American photographer, author, and educator. She retired in 2015 after forty-one years as professor of communications at Webster University in St. Louis. Her work has been collected by many museums and libraries around the world and appears in numerous books and magazines. Her publications include Encountering Florence/Firenze un incontro; Kodachrome – End of the Run: Photographs from the Final Batches; Kodachrome Notes; and reAPPEARANCES. In recent years, she has been primarily shooting with various toy cameras.
