“A Powerhouse of Unique Sound” (Broadway World), jazz/contemporary vocalist Cara Dineen performed extensively throughout the NYC area from 2012-2020 as vocalist, founder, and bandleader for her two bands: BELLATONIC (jazz/pop) and The Brooklyn Sugar Stompers (1920’s jazz/blues). These bands performed for high-profile clients (SpaceX, Coco Chanel, GQ Magazine) and universities throughout the Northeast. From 2017-2020, she toured internationally as solo vocalist and M.C. for celebrated American tap-dance group The Tap Factor. In 2022, Ms. Dineen premiered “Bessie to Bjork,” a new cabaret show featuring music from over 100 years of female performers at The Blue Strawberry (St. Louis) in collaboration with guitarist Matthew Von Doran. Under the moniker, Dineen creates electro-acoustic compositions and entirely improvised live performances with only a loop station and her voice. From 2019-2020, her cross-disciplinary musical works with tap dancer Samara Seligsohn received praise: “Nice rhymes about meditation” (NY Theater Wire). In 2022, ANAAM debuted a improvised set of live “vocal looping” at the STL Fringe Festival. Currently based in Brooklyn, NY, Dineen has taught jazz/contemporary voice and songwriting at Lindenwood University (St. Charles MO) and is training to become a teacher of “The Alexander Technique,” a body awareness method, through The Balance Arts Center (New York). In addition to teaching and training, Ms. Dineen will premiere both a new cabaret show and a debut album of original music in 2024.
