Introduction to Digital Photography with Matt Weber
Three-Part Workshop
Saturdays, March 4, 11 and 18, 2023
10am – 2pm CST
The Introduction to Digital Photography workshop is a comprehensive examination of the digital single lens reflex camera to better understand and control image capture. Through hands-on exercises and demonstrations learners will experiment with exposure controls, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and focus controls. This workshop will also cover the mechanics of the digital single lens reflex camera including file management and organization and post-processing image corrections through Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.
File management after image capture includes methods on file storing, tagging, keywording, grouping, and ‘non-destructive’ editing using both Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom Classic software.
We will cover image corrections and improvements including white-balance, contrast, color control, masking for localized corrections, and final output considerations for both web and print format.
Each workshop day will culminate in a hands-on photo exercise to help learners better grasp the digital photographic toolkit from input to output to demonstrate how these tools and processes can help enhance their own photographic work. We will also talk about composition and aesthetic principles and how it comes together with tools and techniques to create stronger, more expressive, personal work.
