St. Louis native Peter Martin brings his fantastic Generation S to the Bistro for this exhilarating run of shows! The acclaimed jazz pianist, educator, and founder of Open Studio has performed and recorded on six continents with Wynton Marsalis, Dianne Reeves, Betty Carter, Christian McBride, and Joshua Redman as well as his own ensembles. He has recorded over 400 lessons, pioneering the field of online jazz education and was recently featured in the New York Times for his ground breaking work. Peter co-hosts the acclaimed music podcast You’ll Hear It with Adam Maness. Peter brings with him the great Rueben Rogers on bass, Gregory Hutchinson on drums, and Sarah Hanahan on saxophone!

Raised in the Virgin Islands by parents who were both ministers, Reuben Rogers was imbued with both groove and spirit from birth and grew up performing gospel in church while absorbing the calypso and reggae rhythms of the islands. Reuben’s versatile mastery of both the acoustic and electric bass has led to opportunities on stages around the world alongside some of the music’s most renowned artists.

Gregory Hutchinson studied under Marvin “Smitty” Smith and Kenny Washington in the late ‘80s and performed with his father, who was also a drummer in a reggae band. It’s always a thrill when Hutchinson has the Bistro swinging!

Sarah Hanahan is an up-and-coming jazz saxophonist in New York City and is currently pursuing her Masters Degree in Jazz performance at The Juilliard School. Now a resident of New York City but originally from Marlborough, Massachusetts, Sarah grew up listening to a wide variety of music and was gifted her first saxophone at age 8.
