PHOTO SCANNING, REPAIR, & RESTORATION – A TWO-PART WORKSHOP WITH JEFF HIRSCH

Learn how to repair and restore faded, discolored, cracked, torn, or otherwise damaged photos using simple scanning and restoration techniques explained in plain English.
In the first of two workshop sessions, you will learn best practices for scanning and archiving analog photographs and negatives. We will cover scanners, scanning software, and how to capture the most information when you scan negatives and prints. We’ll also talk about organizing and storing your scanned images.
In the second session, you will learn a variety of techniques for repairing and restoring damaged photo prints and transparencies.
Among other topics, you will learn how to:
  • Fix rips and tears
  • Replace missing parts
  • Revive faded or washed out photos
  • Correct color casts
  • Remove water damage
  • Colorize black and white images

Jeff Hirsch is a photographer and photo-educator with over 25 years of experience in the field of digital imaging and graphic design. An expert in “geek-to-english” translation and an Adobe Certified Expert in Lightroom and Photoshop, he teaches photography and photo workflow to individuals and groups. Jeff is a frequent presenter at local and regional camera clubs where he speaks on a wide variety of photographic subjects including street and travel photography, color management, digital photo workflow and organization, and more. Along with his wife Donna, Jeff leads photo travel workshops in beautiful locations at home and abroad including Iceland, Cuba, Italy, Greece, New Zealand, Cambodia, Thailand, and more.

IPHF’s Virtual Lecture Series will be hosted on the Zoom Video Communications platform. Links to meetings will be provided after registration. Technical assistance will be available at IPHF by phone and email.
