The newest addition to the thriving .Zack building on Locust is Sally’s Rooftop Garden & Terrace. A multi-purpose event space that can be hired for private parties and events, the space also houses a lush garden that is being cultivated to provide produce for the Kranzberg Arts Foundation food program and venues. The garden is cultivated by Urban Harvest STL, a non-profit organization whose mission is to grow healthy produce to donate to areas of the city that have limited, or non-existent access to healthy, nutritious food.

The beautiful rooftop space grows a large selection of herbs, produce and edible flowers. Heat-loving plants, that can withstand the summer temperatures in St. Louis, thrive using an irrigation system that ensures the plants receive water throughout the long hot summer. The aim is for a balanced eco-system with plants that attract pollinators and insects. Sustainability is a key component to the design of the garden. Modular milk crates that can be reconfigured at any time provide an easy and clever solution to the urban space.

“Sally’s Rooftop Garden & Terrace is the Foundation’s latest effort to grow and expand arts infrastructure in St. Louis. The Terrace provides a stunning outdoor event space in the heart of the city, utilizing food grown on site and directly supports our resident arts organizations. It’s the perfect ecosystem,” said Chris Hansen, Kranzberg Arts Foundation Executive Director.

Sally’s is available to hire for arts events and parties for up to 150 people. The panoramic views of downtown and the arch make for an unforgettable setting.
